The Salford Story Philip is 17 and since leaving school, has been looking for a job within the retail sector but had been overlooked due to his academic grades. He applied for several jobs but lacked confidence and was unsure what to do next. Sophie is 18 and left school without any GCSE’s. Sophie joined the create academy in Salford in July 2011 because she had previous retail experience but wanted the opportunity of a more permanent position with prospects. At only 17, Hayley is the youngest of the Great Manchester trainees. However she is as keen and determined as anyone to complete the course.
