Investigating how uncertainty in soil NOx emission affects modeled tropospheric NO2 columns. Findings show modification of soil NOx emission parameterization influences bias in different regions. Discoveries suggest more complex measures are needed to reduce overall simulation bias over North America.

Summary • The uncertainty of soil NOx emission parameterization is large. The increased dry soil NOx emission fluxes for soil except agriculture did reduce the bias in western US, however, it increased the bias in North Dakata, South Dakata, Montana, and Wyoming. So It seems that this simply modification of soil NOx emission parameterization is not in perfect way to reduce the overall bias of simulated NO2 columns over North America.
