  2. 1 Peter 3:20-21, KJV “20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 21The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ”

Introduction • The salvation of Noah was a “type” of our salvation - vs. 21 • “the like figure where unto even baptism, even baptism” - KJV • “which also after a true likeness doth now save you, even baptism” - ASV • “there is also an antitype which now saves us-baptism” - NKJV • “Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you” - RSV • “which figure now also saves us, baptism” - MKJV • “also to which an antitype doth now save us-baptism” - YLT We will compare the LIKE salvation of Noah with the salvation of Christians today!

THE GRACE OF GOD “But Noah found grace (favor) in the eyes of the LORD” - Genesis 6:8 • Today we are saved by the grace of God • “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” - Ephesians 2:8 • Acts 15:11; Ephesians 2:5; 2 Timothy 1:9 But, we are not saved by grace alone, as Noah was not saved by grace alone Noah Was Saved By

FAITH “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith” - Hebrews 11:7 • We are saved “by faith” • John 3:16; 8:24; Romans 5:1; Hebrews 11:6 But, we are not saved by “faith only” - James 2:24 Noah Was Saved By

  9. BEING IN THE ARK • Salvation was possible to only those in the ark • Genesis 7:1, 7, 9, 13, 15-16, 23; 1 Peter 3:21 • Today, salvation is possible to only those in Christ • 2 Timothy 2:10; cf. Acts 27:21-44; 2 John 9; John 15:5; 14:23 • Only the saved are added to the church • Acts 2:41, 42, 47; Ephesians 5:23 • Water baptism puts us in Christ and the church • Galatians 3:27; 1 Corinthians 12:13 As those outside the ark perished, those outside of Christ and His church are forever lost Noah Was Saved By
