  4. Proposed Project • Departmental Review for Biology • Fall 2012-Spring 2013 • Discussions with biology chair about how to best manage document collection & collaboration • Desired “living” dept review report, but concerned about security

  5. Solution: Moodle Collaborative, dynamic, secure space already used by department faculty Requested department page (vs. course page) from campus LMS administrator All Biology faculty & staff Organized by topics

  6. Moodle Functions Used Adding Resources Forums Latest News Messaging

  7. Lessons Learned Was not initially embraced by all Encouraged more LMS usage + training moments Housekeeping and maintenance essential Facilitated community of practice (COP)

  8. Going Forward • Keeping site as departmental resource • Department meeting minutes repository • Collaboration + communication for sub committees • Good News! (Announcements) • Plan to document and explore use of Moodle within academic science community of practice
