Software Development Techniques Review by Group 10 – Adult Toy Vault Patrick Deenihan Lauren Nicole
Our company – Adult Toy Vault Company Description a smaller, Bend-based storage facility for boats, RVs, quads, jetskis, snow mobiles, and various other land and water recreational vehicles growing rapidly Currently, we offer 50 storage units are at 100% capacity with a wait list
Adult Toy Vault’s Problem: Problem Description handle the rapidly growing customer base with expanding facilities. We want to design a website that handles customer receivables manages the waiting list manages customer 30 day notices and applications gives access to the applicant's credit history and references ⇒ essentially handle the entire business transactions while allowing both Adult Toy Vault and customers to interface online
Reading List Review Good variety and selection of articles from an assortment of sources. Article summaries were well written and concise. Specifically… The Methezine article CASE tools for the Object Oriented Analysis Phase article The Extreme Programming Article
Presentation Feedback - Pros Good introduction, review of problem, and inclusion of outline Well-formatted PowerPoint, easy to read, not too wordy Nice images (RAD, CASE, XP Programming) that tried to clarify confusing techniques Went well, everyone knew what they were talking about.
Presentation Feedback - Cons Terminology was still somewhat confusing Felt as if they didn’t’ truly addressed our issues relating to our business More research on the possible costs of various website design services and outsourcing
Suggestions - Pros Nice customization of IT choice with Chinook Winds: Local business RAD seems like a good suggestion due to the fact that it allows for user involvement and adaptation to a company who is changing and growing.
Suggestions - Cons Suggesting that we do it ourselves is a little unreasonable as we know little about programming The cost comparison was a little incomplete. It provided information on the software cost, but no information on further consulting fees which would have been helpful since we will be going with a IT consulting firm for our company’s software development needs.
Our Decision: We have decided that were are going to implement the Rapid Application Development program. WHY? It is a very flexible methodology It’s main mechanisms are prototyping and user feedback It best used with: A large user community High possibility of changes in requirements and features
