PROJECT’S STRUCTURE, GOOD PRACTICES • SPAIN • Year 2001 LAW: Minimum standards for young workers (25% training) • Bonus for companies hiring young people • Public incentives not to retire (social security bonus or reductions) • SECTOR Collective Agreement: annual training plans with trade union • involvement • Examples of banks hiring university students with temporary contracts • - Trade Union free training plans (with state and EU contribution) for • re-qualification of workers over 55 6

PROJECT’S STRUCTURE, GOOD PRACTICES • MALTA • LAW: • Young workers: Minimum standards, Apprenticeship • Elder workers: Incentives for hiring workers over 55, • Right to work after retirement • SECTOR Collective Agreement: retraining, redeployment and early retirement • Temporary employment of university students in the summer time • ETC offers (50% co-financed) work trial schemes 9

PROJECT’S STRUCTURE, GOOD PRACTICES • HUNGARY • New Labour Code (1st July 2012): • Tax reductions for companies employing workers <25 and >55 • Young workers: • 3/6 months transitional starting period • companies hiring workers <25 pay no social contributions for 2 years • Elder workers: • Government fund for retraining of dismissed public workers • - Persons working beyond retiring age get increases of pension base • Working after retirement is only permitted in health and education 10

PROJECT’S STRUCTURE, GOOD PRACTICES • ITALY • SECTOR COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS • Joint and co-financed Solidarity Fund (1999) to support employment and workers’ income in case of bank crisis and restructuring: • Funding of employees’ professional training and re-qualification, • Funding of working time reductions and suspension of working activities • Early retirements • For Banks that cannot apply the previous agreement: • Check for unemployment (max 24 months), • Outplacement 11

PROJECT’S STRUCTURE, GOOD PRACTICES • ITALY • Sector Fund for Employment (sector collective agreement 19-1-2012), managed by the sector bilateral body Enbicredito: • Co-financed by employees and managers • Contribution of 2500€ a year for three years for each employee hired • Expansive solidarity: working time (and wage) reduction with concomitant hiring of permanent workers • FBA (Joint Fund for Life Long Training in the Bank and Insurance Sector): 2012 call for proposals to finance professional training and requalification of workers over 55 12

PROJECT’S FOLLOW UP SPAIN Initiatives to foster organizational efficiency and cooperation between elder and young workers with focus on M&A processes (Agreement in the ‘Saving Bank of Barcelona’) MALTA ‘Retaining older workers on consultancy basis – Mentoring Program’: to improve elder workers professional effectiveness and structural cooperation with young workers CYPRUS Agreements to employ young workers on part-time/seasonal basis from 15th May to 15th September (and Christmas/Easter holidays) 13
