I don’t believe that • Cryptologists are smarter, on the whole, than formal methodists • You can’t do refinement for security • There are two kinds of theoretical CS: semantics and complexity, no middle ground • It’s all been solved (Schneider,Ryan,Lowe,...) • Our toolbox is adequate
I do believe that • Abstraction and compositionality help • Both complexity theory and probability theory are in need of calculational methods • The “ABZ community” is making useful progress
