    3. In this lesson we will be thinking about how people have different needs.

    5. Today you are going to design a: Playground for the Go-Givers You must try to think about all their needs, and include some special ideas that you think the Go-Givers might enjoy.

    6. Mitali is 6 years old. He supports Man U. His favourite toy is an electronic car He is worried about being bullied What will you provide for him:

    7. Anna is 6 years old. She is adventurous, and a bit of a tomboy She likes running and climbing trees She always has her pet mouse (Digby) with her What will you provide for her:

    8. Digby is Anna’s pet. He likes to run around a lot He does tricks with a small red ball He likes retrieving sticks and frisbees What will you provide for him:

    9. Jun is 8 years old. She is into gymnastics and dancing She is a chatterbox She likes writing stories What will you provide for her:

    10. Pete is 9 years old. He is full of energy, and a wheelchair user. His favourite game is ‘It’. He’s into board games and computer games. What will you provide for him:

    14. Now decide what you are going to have in your playground, for example: Games area Quiet area Nature area Performance area Activities Playground markings Games equipment

    15. Draw the shape of your school and the playground

    16. Draw the areas, features and markings you have planned.

    17. Draw one of your special features in detail. It could be a water feature, a fixed game or a playhouse.

    18. Now decide on the rules for your playground. Think about: Health & Safety Ensuring that everyone can enjoy themselves

    19. When you have finished ask another group for their opinion of your playground.

    20. Glossary Area – spot, neighbourhood Feature – something that makes someone or something special or different. Fixed – something that stays the same, or doesn’t move
