  3. The Route • Total Length 24km • 18.5km Phase 1a • 5.5km Phase 1b • Connects Edinburgh Airport to City Centre • Links with development areas in north & west Edinburgh

  4. Why trams for Edinburgh? • Pressures for growth • Major developments at Waterfront and west of Edinburgh • By 2015, the Capital will need 23,800 new houses • By 2015, 30,000 new jobs by are forecasted. • This growth will put extra demands on public transport and our roads.

  13. • GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION • On arrival at each location: Site Manager will brief you on local hazards, first aid arrangements and tour route • Stick in your group, with your escort and listen carefully to their instructions • Hard hats, high visibility vests/jackets and walking boots (trainers / high heels etc not permitted) • Mobile phones, audio devices, smoking are not permitted on site • Welfare and first aid facilities are provided at each location, ask your escort if you need them • Do not take short cuts, stick to dedicated pedestrian routes • Vehicle movements have been limited during your visit, but still cross paths/roads with caution…many site vehicles won’t see you!
