  1. What does a D.J. actually do?

  2. Where do D.J.s preform? • They can be a variety of venues of where a DJ can preform for e.g. : clubs, schools, weddings ,private parties, radio stations, http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_do_DJ_perform

  3. The type of equipment D.J.s use • For beginner DJs the ideal equipment would be two turntables or 2 mixable CD players or a laptop. They can even have all of them but its totally up to them. A set of headphones, a microphone, some stereo cables for your type of equipment and a DJ mixer connected to an amp and two or more passive speakers/ two or more active speakers (built in amps). http://www.wikihow.com/Buy-Your-First-Set-of-DJ-Equipment

  4. Different styles of D.J. • They are many different types of D.J.s for either venues or genre of music. • Club DJs • Mobile DJ • Radio DJs • Hip Hop DJs • DJ (deejay[in reggae]) is someone who raps

  5. Range of equipment and uses • Turntables, battle mixer and DVS(Serato or Traktor) • A lot of hip hop DJs and people who do DJ battles leans towards this type of equipment because it has a lot of flexibility concerning to the mixing and playing music. Rane mixer or even DJM 900 are built for scratching an quick mixing that these types of DJs look for. The cueing of music and the fading is extremely light. However the drawbacks of his is that it is not designed for special effects. The type of setup goes to playing the song more clean and straight. So sometimes it might not be right for DJs if they are heavily inexperienced with this equipment. • AbletonLive and Controller • The main users are people who use abletonoften, such as producers. For them it provides an easy crossover to DJing live and provides lots of power with effects and phrasing. You can do a variety of things from playing just track after track like you would with a typical 2 decks and a mixer, to much more complicated operations like mixing with a variety of samples.. You can get a lot of control over your music depending on how much time you get setting it up. There is not necessarily a drawback with this equipment ,but what you put in is what you get out. http://spin-academy.com/professional-dj-equipment-setups-which-is-right-for-you/

  6. Range of equipment and uses • Two to Four CDJs and an Industry Standard 4 channel mixer • A wide variety of DJs use this kind of set up from Techno/ House DJs to Dubstep DJs, Trap DJs but a focus on electronic DJs, who are more inclined to longer mixes. You’ll often see laptops added to these setups to add a level of robustness to your music library but it’s not necessary. • What’s so great about it? • I’ve always found this setup to be very dependable. Once I get a mix locked in I can trust no worries that it will stay that way which is important when you are doing long mixes with complicated phrasing. • Using Pioneer CDJs and either Allen and Heath or DJM900 mixers the mixers are built with a firm design, knobs and faders are really solid and you can feel that they are designed for slower transitions. • These units are much more effect centered when you’re using especially Allen and Heath mixers you get a much wider range of effects that are intuitive and easy to use than some laptop software. • What are the drawbacks? • You will often see laptops used with this sort of setup but without it you lose some ability to quick mix. The select knobs on CDJs just don’t provide as much accessibility to your library as a mouse and keyboard on your laptop do, and making searching your library more difficult. That being said Pioneer is improving this as new models are released. • Because of the increased time it can take to look up song quick mixing is much more difficult, though often DJs using this type of set up are not aiming to quick mix anyway, they want to play out the track and do longer mixes between songs anyway http://spin-academy.com/professional-dj-equipment-setups-which-is-right-for-you/
