Four leprous men are at the gate of Samaria. • Leprosy was a horribly disfiguring and excruciatingly painful skin disease. • The most horrible part of leprosy had to be the isolation it brought. • Lev 13:45-46.
One: Jesus commands us to share the good news. • “Go . . . and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matt 28:19). • “You shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). • If we love Jesus, we’ll do what He says (Jn 14:15).
Two: Heaven & hell are real. • The people of God will enjoy His presence for all eternity. • “Now [Lazarus] is comforted” (Lk 16:25). • Rev 21:3-4. • Those who are not the people of God will be tormented forever. • Mk 9:47-48. • Rev 4:11.
Three: The love of Jesus compels us. • “The love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died” (2 Cor 5:14). • The love of Christ could mean: • Our love for Christ. • Jesus’ love for us and those in the world. • Four: I am a sinner saved by grace.
One: We need to share the Gospel of Jesus. • The gospel of Jesus changes lives (Rom 1:16). • What if evangelism isn’t our talent? • You can invite people!
Two: We need to pray. • Jesus said to pray for workers. • “Pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Matt 9:38). • Paul prayed for the lost in Israel. • “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved” (Rom 10:1).
Three: We need to live right. • Matt 5:13-16. • “Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives” (1 Pet 3:1).
