  1. ROBERTS BANK ADMIRAL CAMPAIGN A case for support for the Roberts Bank Lifeboat 2006

  2. Contents • Our Vision • Our Story • Our Location • Search and Rescue - 2005 Statistics • Our Needs • Your Support • Your Recognition • Community Partnerships

  3. Our Vision "Even in the modern world a Lifeboat Service is required. Machines can fail, mistakes can happen and storms can prove overwhelming. The sea is waiting in all its ancient majesty. It is finally man that meets the wind and wave." Roberts Bank Lifeboat, Delta British Columbia

  4. Our Story The White Rose of Yorkshire Roberts Bank Lifeboat Station, Delta British Columbia

  5. Our Story The Roberts Bank Lifeboat Station Society is a volunteer, non-profit, provincially registered charitable marine Search and Rescue organization accountable to the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Pacific (CCGA-P) and aligned with the Coast Guard as part of the Search and Rescue team coordinated by the Rescue Coordination Centre

  6. Our Location • The Roberts Bank Lifeboat Station – Delta (RBLB-D) is located in an extremely high traffic area in the Straight of Georgia, known for treacherous offshore shoals, strong currents and dangerous seas caused by strong westerly winds that oppose the Fraser River current • Located next to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal, the Lifeboat station is ideally positioned to respond to marine emergencies from those vessels in need, including: • Vancouver Island ferries, deep sea ships, tugs, pleasure craft and fishing boats • Hundreds of small planes and commercial aircraft fly over the straight on an daily basis.

  7. Search and Rescue2005 Statistics • 807 Search and Rescue (SAR) responses • 617 lives assisted • 195 lives saved • 19,250 volunteer hours on SAR Incidents • Estimated value of property saved $21,856,000

  8. The White Rose of Yorkshire is a “Waveney” class, all-weather, self-righting steel lifeboat • She carries a crew of five and can carry up to 65 survivors • She HAS firefighting, de-watering and powerful towing capabilities • But…….

  9. Our Need • Now over 30 years old, the vessel does not have the speed nor the latest navigational equipment to provide the life-saving services that are required in these highly travelled, treacherous waters • A new all weather, towing, duration and high survivor capacity capabilities of the Roberts Bank Lifeboat will make it an ideal complementary vessel to the fast response, shallow-water rescue boats of the Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary

  10. Our Needs • The Roberts Bank Life Boat Station - Delta is raising much needed funds to purchase a new vessel in order to provide the essential service required for marine rescues • Boat $1,500,000 • Boathouse with training room $ 100,000 • Boat Lift $ 30,000 • Navigation Equipment $ 42,300 • Cabin Equipment $ 73,200 • Boat Equipment $ 26,900 • Boat House Equipment $ 5,800 • Crew Equipment $ 12,000
