Utah- is a Buyer Beware State • A warning that notifies a buyer that the goods he or she is buying are "as is," or subject to all defects. • This rule is not designed to shield sellers who engage in Fraud or bad faith. It merely summarizes the concept that a purchaser must examine, judge, and test a product considered for purchase himself or herself.
Utah Division of Consumer Protection The three day rescission law does not apply to purchasing a new or used car. Once you drive away, you assume all responsibility for that car.
Salvage or Lemon Law Titles • Salvage… Car has been so damage by collision, flood, or any other reason, that it would cost more to repair it to safe operation than it’s worth. • Lemon Law…Car most be new or under warranty and it has been repaired by the manufacturer at least 4 times during the first year.
What to Look for when Buying a Used Car • Examine the paint…Check the doorjamb, moldings, and the hood. Check for mismatch paint. • Check for door gaps. • Check the dash board… The molding may have chips. • Check under the car… Look for clamp marks or damage. • Ask questions… ask to see the title, ask for an autocheck history of the car.
