The English Heritage (NMR) perspective • Support for the project • Why the nmr want this • How the nmr uses the data • What next • Use of OASIS clause • Import scripts next steps • Timescale for implementation – eh expectations
Support for the project • The NMR supports the OASIS Project through inputting of form data to the Excavation Index & its supply to the ADS Catalogue • Input to & provision of training • Setting of standards via the DSU
Why the NMR want this • Updating of the Excavation Index with ‘fresh’ data • Allowing comparison with existing EI dataset through time • Commitments to ADS Catalogue
How the NMR uses the data • Submitted forms are checked & input to the Excavation Index • Cross-referenced to earlier fieldwork where relevant • Validated & signed off • Submitted to ADS Catalogue
What next? • Completion of training across EH Regions • Spreading the word • Changes to data collection mechanisms • Input to archaeological policy
Use of OASIS clause • Adoption crucial to project • ALGAO support & review process
Import scripts: next steps • Excavation Index position • Exgesis events • Other NMR sources
Timescale for implementation • OASIS III national roll-out • Following regional training • Successful flowlines developed • Replacement of existing mechanisms
