Time Table of the Approach ofDaniel’s Seventieth WeekA Brief Overview of the Week Itself The Times Noted Are: Signs That Indicate the Week’s Approach The Primary Topic of the presentation The First Half of the Week (42 Months) The Second Half of the Week (42 Months) Christ Return to Earth
Gail’s Beliefs The timetable is as I understand it. Our goal should be to recognize the approach of Daniel’s Seventieth week as it nears.
Scriptures to note before the beginning of the week are as follows: • 1Thessalonians 5:20* Despise not prophesyings. • John 1:3* All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
The Christian Must Understand: • I Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. • We should therefore know that the lost do not have access to the understanding of God’s Word. • One reason why is as follows.
So What is the Reason • Ro 12:3* For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. • Therefore, only believers have the measure of faith, ala, the gift of the spirit. No unbeliever can understand God’s Word.
Should Christians Recognize The Approach of the Week? • Most would say that of that day & hour we will not know! The Messiah comes as a “Thief” in the night. • Let’s Look at the specific scripture that is most used for saying we will not know.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-5 • 1* ¶ But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. • 2* For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. • 3* For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. • 4* But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. • 5* Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Who is the Light? • John 8:12* Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. • John 9:5* As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. • John 12:46* I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. • Jesus Christ, The Son of God, is the Light.
What Else do we know about the start of Daniel’s week? • The book of Daniel gives us a timetable about Messiah’s return that we should consider. • Isaiah gives us a timetable that includes a prophesy to look for. • The Book of Habakkuk gives us a literal view of Daniel’s week. • Matthew, in the Olivet Discourse, gives us information also. • There are a multitude of others, but in the spirit of keeping this presentable will not be discussed.
Let’s look at Daniel First! • Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. • 25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
Daniel (continued) • Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. • 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Let’s look at what Sir Isaac Newton said about this prophesy.Born 12/25/1642 Died 3/20/1727 • “Thus have we in this short Prophecy, a prediction of all the main periods relating to the coming of the Messiah; the time of his birth, that of his death, that of the rejection of the Jews, the duration of the Jewish war where by he caused the city and the sanctuary to be destroyed, and the time of his second coming:”
Sir Isaac Newton (continued) • “We avoid also the doing violence to the language of Daniel, by taking the seven weeks and sixty two weeks for one number. Had that been Daniel’s meaning, he would have said sixty and nine weeks, and not seven weeks and sixty two weeks, a way of numbering used by no nation.”
Did Titus, the Roman General Destroy Jerusalem? • Titus, the Roman General, destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD. This did not fill all the necessary requirements of Daniel. In short there is another destruction yet to come. • This prince to come will in fact be antichrist since he confirms a covenant with the Jews for peace and protection.
Doesn’t Daniel give us a Timetable? • As noted previously, Yes. But we must understand it! • It is probably the same timetable, coupled with Jesus’ birthplace that led the Wise Men to Bethlehem. They knew about when and where. • Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. • Furthermore, Sir Isaac Newton has helped in understanding Daniel’s timetable. This timetable was given to Daniel by Gabriel, an angel of God.
Israel’s Sabbath Weeks • There is a conflict in when the Sabbath Weeks begin and end. • There are three different time tables. • A brief example of this is that a Sabbath Week, by different Jewish Rabbi’s and Scholars, might start on Tishri 1, 1951, Tishri 1, 1952 or Tishri 1, 1953. • Only one will be correct by God’s timing. God will probably use the most popular, which is Tishri 1, 1952. • Therefore, calculations can be off by as much as two years.
The first hint was the proclamation from Artaxerxes of Persia to rebuild Jerusalem. This occurred on Nisan 1, 444 BC. The next Sabbath week started on Tishri 1, 444,443 or 442 BC. Jesus was born in 2,3 or 4 BC. 62 Sabbath weeks and 6 years after the proclamation. The second proclamation was from the Jerusalem Post on January 23, 1950. A Sabbath week started later on Tishri 1, 1951 or 1952 or 1953. 7 Sabbath weeks ended on Tishri 1, 2000 or 2001 or 2002. So far, we still have a workable time but now we know it was not 2000! The fact that 7 Sabbath weeks ended in 2000 or 2001 or 2002, then by applying what we know of the first coming, Jesus should call the first fruits before the summer solstice of 2008 or 2009. This would be before the end of the 8th Sabbath week, which would end on Tishri 1, 2008 or 2009. This allows Antichrist time to confirm the covenant with Israel and the Palestinians for the Seventieth Week, which would start on Tishri 1, 2008 or 2009. The timetable to the approach is:
So far, we have a workable time! • The fact that 7 Sabbath weeks ended in 2001 or 2002, then by applying what we know of the first coming, Jesus should call the first fruits before the summer solstice of 2008 or 2009. • This will be before the 8th Sabbath week is complete later that year and give antichrist time to confirm the covenant with Israel.
Let’s Further Look at The Olivet Discourse. • Matthew 24:32* ¶ Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: • 33* So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. • 34* Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. • 35* Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. • 36* But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
The fig tree is another indicator as to the approach of Daniel’s Week • Please note the previous scripture said the generation would not pass. (Maybe just a few left.) Consequently, this scripture does not tie down a 40 year or a 70 year period which are both commonly assumed to be a generation. The 70 year generation is still tenable with this understanding.
Isaiah’s clue to the approach • Isaiah 17: 1 ¶ The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. • 2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid. • Damascus will be destroyed. • But is it still a city today? The prophecy is that it would cease from being a city. Is this still in the future? I THINK SO!
Isaiah gives us yet another clue to the approach of Messiah • The first 6 verses of this chapter give us an overview of Daniel’s seventieth week. • It starts with the destruction of Damascus and before the first fruits rapture. • The first verse has been fulfilled once already but unfortunately, not totally. • Matthew 5:18* For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Isaiah gives us yet another clue to the approach of Messiah (continued) • Isaiah 17:3 gives us another major event. • The Scripture is (Isaiah 17:3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.) • The question is “What is the fortress?”
So, What is the Fortress? • I think it is either one or two things, even though it is not plural. • The first fortress for consideration is “The Bride of Christ” the first fruits of the church of Christ. • The second fortress for consideration is “The controlling influence of the Holy Ghost on earth being lessened”. • Could both be the fortress?
Britannica Comments on Damascus • A quote from The Britannica Encyclopedia is: • “It is thought to be the world’s oldest existing city.” • The question is: Does the Assyrian invasion in 732 B.C. fulfill the Isaiah 17:1 statement of Damascus taken away from being a city and becoming a ruinous heap? • The answer is NO!
Another clue to the approach • Matthew 24:4* ¶ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. • 5* For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. • 6* And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. • 7* For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. • 8* All these are the beginning of sorrows.
