  1. The Asscher cut diamond was first designed in 1902 by the Asscher Brothers of Holland, popular at the time for cutting the world's biggest difficult stone (the Cullinan, at 3,106 carats). Asscher cut gemstones initially actually peaked in reputation in the 20's, and could recently be found only in vintage jewelry stores. Around 2002, one hundred years after the first Asscher cut diamond was designed, the form started to make a return, stimulated on by cut variations that provided the form more elegance than conventional Asscher cut diamonds. The modern Asscher cut diamond rock is similar to a rectangle ruby cut, usually with bigger step aspects, a higher crown, and a compact sized desk. This combination often generates more elegance than the emerald cut. A well cut Asscher will appear to have concentric pieces as you look down through the desk, the result of proper placement of the pavilion aspects beneath. Like the ruby cut, the Asscher cut has popped corners; however, because an Asscher is rectangle, the popped sides give the Asscher cut a somewhat octagonal in shape form. Once installed in a four prong establishing, the precious rock preserves its unique form within a rectangle figure. Asscher Diamond
