  3. Course Description • This course provides the top management, or CIO, perspective of information systems. Issues include developing information systems plans in alignment with the organization’s strategy. ISC-445-Fall 2006

  4. Justification for Course • Mature course in the IS discipline that provides the framework for the highest level thinking both conceptually and practically in the academic and professional fields of information systems • Provides capstone-type coverage of material introduced in the introductory course ISC-445-Fall 2006

  5. Course topics include • Relationship between IS and the business • Aligning IT goals and strategy • IS planning • Human resource issues in IS • IT governance, including outsourcing • Assessing IT value ISC-445-Fall 2006

  6. Major course objectives Upon completion of the course, the SWBAT … • Describe the strategic use of information technology from a business perspective at the enterprise level. • Demonstrate an understanding of internal management of information systems as a service function from the point of view of the CIO • Demonstrate an ability to explore individual, organizational, societal, ethical, legal, security, and global impact issues of information systems. • Work in an effective team to develop, document, and present an information systems plan in strategic alignment with the organization ISC-445-Fall 2006
