Global Health • Global Health problems currently transcend national boundaries and demand international cooperation • Multilateral and Bilateral Agencies, Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations and Nations worldwide are committed to participate on Global Health issues
Threats for Global Health • National and Regional Humanitarian Crises due to: War, Political Insecurity, Famine, Food and Nutritional Insecurity • Environmental threats: draught and floods • Economic Instability and Absolute Poverty • Lack of resources: water and food • HIV and AIDS and other emergent diseases (Avian Flu, Hemorrhagic fevers, etc)

Efforts to face the Global Health Treats in Mozambique • Mozambican Government committed on Poverty Reduction – Comprehensive PRSP • National Budget – 13% for Health sector • Alignment of Governmental Program with, PRSP and MDGs • Mechanisms of coordination between the Government and donor’s community • MOU between MOH and Partners • Implementation of Global Health Initiatives
Global Health Initiatives in Mozambique • Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria • PEPFAR • International Health Parternership • Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunization – GAVI • Integrated Management of Child Illnesses • Parternership for Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health
Coordination Mechanisms o MOH with Partners • A mature SWAp • A strong and consistent engagement of donors • A Five Year Plan and an Operating Annual Plan (PES) • A single results framework (PAF or QAD Saúde) • Code of Conduct and a MoU • Joint Annual Review mechanism aligned to government reviews • Pooling of funds (Budget support; PROSAUDE, Provincial Fund, and drugs fund in the process of consolidation and integration);
Consensual Principles: • Strong Leadership at all levels • Clear policies and strategies • Develop and strengthen the coordination mechanisms between the Government and other stakeholders • Strengthen the Health Systems
Challenges • Proceed with the National policies, strategies • Accelerate implementation of Food and Nutritional Security • Provide that the more vulnerable population groups are considered when implementing all national strategies • Improve the mechanisms of coordination with all partners within and outside the country.
