  3. BLS Medical Response • All personnel minimum of EMT, 5 paramedics • AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) • Advanced Airway Adjuncts • Glucometer • Pulse Oxygen meter

  4. Vehicle Accidents • Extrication tools “Jaws of Life” • Vehicle stabilization • Hazard control fuel, oil, batteries, etc.

  5. Water Emergencies • City of Punta Gorda has 75+ miles of canals • Throwable devices on all apparatus • Dive equipment on all apparatus & personnel certified as rescue divers

  6. Hurricane Preparedness Liasion with County and State Evacuation Management Timing, areas, etc. coordinate with PD and County Disaster Recovery Planning Training coordination for City personnel Emergency Preparedness

  7. Emergency Preparedness • First in Team (F.I.T.) Management • Teams made up of personnel from: • Fire Department • Police Department • Public Works • Pre-Staged at Sta. 1 & Sta. 2 • Road clearing equipment • Basic rescue & medical equipment • GPS & communication equipment

  8. Public Education • C.E.R.T Program (Community Emergency Response Teams) • Family Fire Safety House • Fire Extinguisher Training • Targeted Presentations • Boating Safety • Day Cares • Senior Groups

  9. Prevention • Construction Plans Review and Consultation • Annual Inspections of all business & multi-family residential in City • Fire Marshal all State licensed facilities (Schools, Hospitals and Day Cares) • Suppression personnel all others & do pre-fire plans for all • Addressing now done by Growth Management

  10. Home Fire Safety Programs • Family escape plan • Functioning Smoke/CO Alarms • Personnel will come to check, install, change batteries, etc. • Fire extinguisher /education/demo

  11. Community Outreach Programs • Marine flare recovery program • Hurricane shutter safety • Emergency generator use NEW PROGRAMS • Sharps disposal program • Expired/unneeded medication disposal

  12. Future Projects • Research, design, implement Advanced Life Support service, equipment funded in current 2012 ISS program • Enhancement of Marine rescue capabilities for Fire Department
