  3. Council passes building plans On Thursday, a council meeting at the Village Hall discussed a proposal to build 30 new houses to the east of the playing fields. Outside the hall there were scuffles between council members and locals objecting to the development, but the meeting started promptly at 7:00 pm. It was attended by three people shouting slogans of support for the builders and 37 locals carrying placards such as ‘Hands off our village’.

  4. Council passes building plans Many local residents put forward their views about saving the land, identified as a habitat for rare frogs. Arguments stopped the meeting several times. The benefits to the village were discussed at length by the developers. Although the motion to support the plans for 30 detached houses was passed by only one vote, building will begin in 3 months. The village postmaster, Stan Raycott, nephew of Harry Raycott, chairman of Raycotts, congratulated the developers on the quality of their building plans.
