Pike’s Expedition • 1806-07 • Zebulon Pike explored Southern part of Louisiana Purchase • Tried to climb Pike Peak but only got 2/3 because of snow • Captured by Spanish and accused of as spies • Released after a few months • Did Spanish have a legitimate concern?
