  4. It’s Thanksgiving time and Charlotte’s relatives are coming over for dinner! Everyone is going to bring something to eat!

  5. Grandma brought Charlotte’s favorite dessert - pumpkin pie!

  6. Grandma asks Charlotte to cut the pumpkin pie so that everyone can have a piece. First, Charlotte decides to find out how many people are at her house.

  7. Charlotte counts 8 family members in her house. She cuts the pie into 8 pieces.

  8. Charlotte gives the first piece to Grandma. What fraction of the piedoes Grandma have?

  9. Grandma has 1 piece of pie out of 8 total pieces. She has 1/8 of the pie.

  10. Charlotte gives away 3 more pieces. What fraction of the pie is left?

  11. Charlotte has given away 4 pieces. There are 4 pieces left. 4/8 of the pie is left.

  12. Charlotte gives a piece to her mom and dad. Now she has given away 6 pieces in all. What fraction of the pie is left?

  13. Charlotte has given away 6 pieces out of 8 total pieces. So 2/8 of the pie is left over.

  14. Charlotte gives a piece to her uncle. Now there is 1 piece left and it is for her! She sits down at the table and takes a big bite! Charlotte loves Thanksgiving!
