  2. The Source • The Source is the beginning of a river • It is usually set on top of grassy, rocky hills • Some rivers begin in under ground springs, whereas others are formed from rain that runs through the rocky ledges that creates a stream. • It is in a blanket peat bog, 610m (2,0001ft) , and it also begins on the grassy hills of the Cambrian mountains in Whales

  3. Tributaries • A tributary is a smaller river that joins onto a parent river • When a tributary joins into a parent river it is called a confluence. • Tributaries of the river Severn include: Borle Brook joins the Severn at Arley , River Camlad joins the Severn near Camlad , Dowles Brook joins the Severn above Kidderminster

  4. Meanders • A Meander is when a stream or a river bends. • As the water of the stream erodes , The meander continually changes shape as the fast flowing water goes by! • Meanders usually occur in the lower coarse of the river where the water is flowing more slowly

  5. The Mouth • The mouth is the widest part of the river. • It is where the river starts to join the sea. • The mouth of the river Severn flows into the Bristol Channel!

  6. The Severn Bore • The Severn bore is a huge wave that sweeps upstream when the tides are high. • The Severn bore can be about up to 13mph fast! • The Severn boar can reach up to 10ft in midstream!
