The Chapter starts with Scout bemoaning the fact that Atticus didn’t act like the other kids’ parents because he was nearly fifty. • Read through the beginning of chapter 10 on page 89 and mentally list the things that Scout claimed Atticus didn’t do. “Atticus was feeble…”
Uncle Jack Finch has given Scout and Jem air rifles for Christmas. Before they try them out, Atticus says “I’d rather you shot at tin cans in the back yard, but I know you’ll go after birds. After Mrs. Dubose delivers some particularly harsh judgments on Atticus, Jem takes his revenge (p. 102). • But there are consequences!
