University of California • Serves top 1/8 of high school graduate • MINIMUM GPA of 3.0 to apply Comprehensive Review includes: • A-G courses in grades 10 – 11 • number of a-g courses • number of AP/Honors • rigor of the senior year • extra-curricular activities, special talents • SAT or ACT
CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY • Serves top 1/3 of high school graduates • Local CSUEB and SFSU priority enrollment • CSU Eligibility Index = GPA + SAT/ACT • Minimum 2.0 GPA, 3.0 automatically qualifies for non-impacted campuses • Requires SAT or ACT w/o writing • Average cost $19-24,000/year living on-campus

California Community Colleges: • All students should take “a-g” requirements, especially MATH if they wish to be in a “Transfer Program” • DUSD Concurrent Enrollment Program for 10-12 graders-earn HS and College credit • Transfer Programs/AA & AS/Certificates • Average cost $1000/year • No SAT or ACT testing required
To Do This Year • Create a 4-year plan with your counselor • Tri-Valley College Fair- October 15 • Take the PSAT October 18 • Participate in clubs, sports and other extra-curricular activities • Visit the Career Center • Apply for Academic Block D and CSF in October and February
Use Your Summer Time Wisely! • DHS Summer School for remediation • Community Service/Volunteer Work • College Visits • UC Berkeley’s ATDP- 3.5 GPA needed • 4-year College Programs (ie. COSMOS) • Community College Classes (electives only)-receive high school and college credit • Paid work
