Developers may use a Weather API to build interactive applications that provide users with useful information. Weather APIs are helpful not just for forecasting future weather but also for retrieving past weather data. For example, sports websites may provide live broadcasts with various data overlaid on top, such as historical and current weather statistics. Weather data has long been a valuable resource for both businesses and consumers. Weather APIs include more than simply temperature, precipitation, and humidity; they also provide UV index and pollution levels. You may use time-series data to spot trends and patterns and organize activities depending on weather conditions. Some of these APIs come with built-in global alerting and notification systems, which may be helpful for disaster management. 1. Ambee’s weather API With a complete perspective of real-time, accurate local, national, and worldwide weather, Ambee’s Weather API offers important actionable information. Ambee’s goal is to make it easier for people to breathe clean air. We should live in a world where each breath is completely new. Rather, we live in a world wherein air pollution seems to be the leading cause of death, causing cancer, cardiovascular disease, and various other illnesses. We learned a valuable lesson, and we’re on a mission to make things better for everyone. Ambee combines the capacity of tens of thousands of sensor information with hundreds of satellite images. Our proprietary models and state-of-the- art Ai / Ml methods evaluate environmental variables such as air quality, micro weather, soil, pollen, and much more to assist millions of people across the globe to stay safe and protected. 2. AccuWeather AccuWeather is a major supplier of digital weather information. AccuWeather, per its website, offers weather predictions for over 3 million places across the globe, and over a million people depend on it every day. The business has been gradually expanding its audience and introducing additional weather-related goods and services. Sky Motion, a provider of extreme short-term & extremely localized weather predictions, was purchased by the business late last year. AccuWeather was able to debut its MinuteCast feature earlier this year thanks to the purchase of Sky Motion. In February, AccuWeather established a partnership with Samsung to offer a 2
preinstalled weather app for the Samsung Galaxy S5. The AccuWeather Network, a 24-hour weather channel, is also in the works (1). The AccuWeather APITrack these API allows developers to integrate severe weather warnings, daily and hourly predictions, current conditions, and other weather-related features into their applications. AccuWeather does not provide a freemium option; only premium plans are offered. For pricing on the AccuWeather API, developers can approach the company’s sales department. 3. Australian Bureau of Meteorology The Australian Bureau of Meteorology is indeed the federal body in charge of assisting Australians in the face of drought, floods, fires, storms, and other severe weather. The agency also offers real- time measurements, computer model predictions, and agricultural bulletins, among other meteorological, climate, and water data. The Weather Observation Webpage (WOW), a project developed with United Kingdom Met Office, was launched in March. An illustration of weather crowdsourcing is the WOW Project. The WOW website allows Australian weather lovers to exchange weather observations, pictures, and other information. While the weather data on the bureau’s website is free to use, certain services, such as weather data services utilizing the Australian Bureau of Meteorology APITrack that API, need a subscription. 4. Forecast.io Forecast.io is a weather network developed from the ground up to support the Dark Sky Weather iPhone and iPad app. Forecast.io was released as a standalone weather service in March 2013, and the Forecast APITrack was made available to programmers to integrate Forecast.io weather functionality into third-party apps. Thousands of programmers have signed up to utilize the Forecast API, according to the website. Saga app, DuckDuckGo, Weather Line app, and Dark Sky are some apps and websites that use Forecast.io weather data. 3
The Forecast API may be used to obtain weather data for most places around the globe, including present circumstances, minute-by-minute predictions, hour-by-hour forecasts, and day-by-day forecasts. The API is free to use for both nonprofit and commercial applications, with a daily limit of 1,000 API requests. For API requests that surpass the 1,000 per day free limit, there is a fee of $1 for every 10,000 (or 0.01 penny) (2). 5. AerisWeather The goal of AerisWeather, which was founded in 1996, is to be the most reliable weather resource in the nation. Local weather predictions extended forecasts, and weather maps are among the services offered by the business. AerisWeather’s product range, Aeris Wear, Aeris Weather Maps, Aeris Weather API, and Aeris Web, has constantly been growing. Aeris Wear, an Aeris Webservice weather software with local and regional radar images, was released early last month and is tailored for Android Wear users. The Aeris Wear Android software is available in two versions: free and Pro, with in-app purchases. Developers may use the Aeris Weather API to integrate weather data in third-party Websites, iOS, and Android apps. The Aeris JavaScript SDK, which contains a range of prebuilt JavaScript gadgets that can be quickly integrated into websites or apps, is also available from the business. Developers may use the Aeris Weather API for free. However, the free API plan has limitations. There are a selection of paid options available, ranging from basic to enterprise. 6. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) The NOAA National Weather Service API offers programmatic access to extensive weather data sets from the National Weather service. Climate data, geographic information systems, and data from the Historical Observing Metadata Repository are also accessible via NOAA’s programmatic access. These data sets are from NOAA National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), which claims to have the world’s biggest climate data repository, gathering data through ships, land-based stations, buoys, satellites, radars, and other sources. To integrate climate and weather data into their apps, developers may utilize the NOAA Climate Data Web API, which is part of a suite of climate APIs. Although the API is free, each access token is restricted to five queries per second or 1,000 requests per day. If developers want to raise the API rate limitations, they should approach NOAA/NCDC customer service (3). 4
7. OpenWeatherMap The OpenWeatherMap API offers free weather data for over 200,000 cities, which may be accessed programmatically. Keep an eye on this API. The company’s philosophy is comparable to that of OpenStreetMap or Wikipedia in that it wants to “make meteorological information free and accessible for everyone.” In June, Pioneer Electronics launched AppRadioLIVE, a proprietary program for connected-car experiences that collects information from music, weather, traffic, news, and other sources. When a route is selected in the AppRadioLIVE app, customers access 5-day weather predictions through OpenWeatherMap. Developers may use the OpenWeatherMap API to create third-party apps that leverage OpenWeatherMap weather data & features, including current conditions, 5- and 16-day forecasts, recent weather station data, historical data, and weather map layers. The API is free to use; however, for developers who need more meteorological data and assistance, premium subscriptions are available. 8.
