  1. How is a Gantry Crane Different from a Bridge Crane? While browsing through the topics of overhead cranes, the most common query that I have come across is the difference between a Gantry crane and a bridge crane. Even though they belong to the same parent type of crane (overhead crane), there is a huge difference between the two. In this article, I have tried to put the difference between the two cranes in the easiest way that could have been possible. Have a look. 1.Structure Bridge Cranes: They have both a single as well as double girder bridge arrangement. They operate on the hook movement of the 3 axes. This enables the bridge crane to become flexible enough to enable the placement of loads easily.

  2. Gantry Cranes: They have a bridge that is supported by 2 rigid steel legs of A-frame. These legs rest on the floor and are equipped with casters. This makes it possible for the crane to move in different directions easily. 2.Lifting Mechanism Bridge Cranes: The lifting mechanism of the bridge crane is characterized by a rail that is elevated for applications whose requisite is off-floor processes. The beam of this crane is suspended from the runway attached to the ceiling or walls of the building. It has a permanent fixture with a lifting area and a fixed span.
