  2. Psalm 23 • The LORD is my shepherd I shall not want… (I will lack nothing) • He makes me lie down in green pastures • He leads me beside still waters • He RESTORES my soul

  3. Soul = MIND, WILL and EMOTIONS • Mind = Thinking, thought patterns • Will = choices, decisions • Emotions = anger, sadness, happiness, disgust, fear etc…

  5. 1 Tim 1:5 • 5 The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart (motives/ intent), a clear conscience, and genuine faith (will of God).

  6. 1 Tim 1:19 • 19 Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.  20 Hymenaeus and Alexander are two examples. I threw them out and handed them over to Satan so they might learn not to blaspheme God.

  7. Types of Consciences • Clear / Pure conscience • 1 Tim. 3:9 – live with a clear consc. • Serve God with a clear conscience (2 Tim. 1:3) • Seared - 1 Tim. 4:2 • Guilty • Evil – Heb.10:22 • Defiled - Titus 1:15 –minds & consciences Weak - 1 Cor. 8:10 • Wounded - 1 Cor. 8:12

  8. Seared Conscience – 1 Tim.4:2These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are seared/dead.

Hebrews 9:14 • 13 Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity. 14 Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.
