  1. Electromagnetic Waves Have Many Uses McDougal LittelUnit D Chapter 3 Section 2 Pages 79-86 If you are absent today click on the following link to read about the EM Spectrum before you come back to class. EM Spectrum Reading

  2. Groups • EM waves have different frequencies. Pg. 79 • The Electromagnetic Spectrum pg.80 • Measuring EM Waves pg. 81 • Radio waves and microwaves have long wavelengths and low frequencies. Pg. 82 • Radio Waves pg. 82 • Microwaves pg. 83 • Infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light have mid-range wavelengths and frequencies. Pg. 84 • Infrared Light pgs. 84-85 • Ultraviolet Light pg. 85 • X-Rays and gamma rays have short wavelengths and high frequencies. Pg. 86

  3. Group Project • Each group must create a mini-poster about their section of reading. • Each poster must contain the title of the section and the page numbers. • Each poster must use key words and symbols/pictures to summarize the readings information. • Each poster must have the group members names on the back. • Each poster must be easy to read from across the room.

  4. Gamma RaysHave the shortest wavelengthThe highest frequency and radiate the most energy. Radioactive materials emit gamma rays.

  5. Study Guide Requirement • One person from each group needs to see me for information that must be included on the back of their poster. • This will be information that we will use to fill-in a study guide.

  6. Groups Will Present Their Posters • Make sure to decide how to present your poster. • Chose 1-2 sentences from your reading that you feel are the main ideas. • Make a note of the page, paragraph and line numbers. • You will have the class read those sentences out loud before you present your poster.
