Mission Statement • The mission of Agricultural Education is to prepare and support individuals for careers, build awareness, and develop leadership for the food, fiber and natural resources systems.

July – Summer’s Mid Point! • Week 5 – July 4th – 2 days SAE Visits – 3 days • Week 6 - MAAE Summer Conference – 4 days • Week 7 – County Fair Prep – 3 days County Fair – 4 days • Week 8 – FFA Leadership Retreat – 2 days Work Station Recruitment - 3 days
August – 4 weeks to Labor Day! • Week 9 - Visit new students – 5 days • Week 10 - SAE final sweep – 5 days • Week 11 - Community Service Project – 5 days • Week 12 – Teacher Workshop First Football Game MN FFA Lvstk Show – 3 days
Summer Visits • Student goals - career • SAE development • Photos • Training agreements - Training Plans • Take your principal along! • FFA goals • You will learn about background, opportunity and parental involvement.
Business Partnerships • Visit - explain program • Identify potential employers • Identify Win-Win situations • Be Visible in community - Join the Chamber of Commerce • You should and will know the community better than anyone else in school district
Agriculture Organizations • Join • Get involved – get students involved. • Assist with County Fair, Town celebrations • If anyone is going to come to your rescue, it will be those around you who know and value your contributions to the community.
Curriculum review & design • Use School Curriculum Funds to: • Review Course content • Layout your units and class activities • Determine what materials you will need • Prospect for resources • Write a grant
Order • Equipment that you’ll need • Supplies that are not purchased locally • Textbooks and workbooks • Technology - computer programs • Films
Clean - Throw - Toss • Clean - throw out everything that is more than 10 years old. • Archive stuff that is a historical reference for FFA. • Clean the dust, dirt, and graffiti from walls, doors, windows, ceiling. • Buy some paint - put the kids to work - make it bright clean and inviting.
30 days - Not enough time - • Plan out each day • Spend no more than 2 hours a day at office • Have regular office hours • Send a newsletter • Prospect for new students - Freshman • Give a weekly schedule to your principal and secretary.
30 days - Enough time to get in Trouble! DO NOT - • Write curriculum. • Clean, paint, edit files all day. • Play on company time. • Farm on company time. • Assume people know where you are, what you are doing, and why you are not available.
