Cl2 + H2O ClOH + H+ + Cl- 2) Klórmyndun við sýruábætingu Klórgas + vatn hypoklórít + sýra, þ.e. Cl2 + H2O ClOH + H+ + Cl- Sýruáfylling (þ.e. H+) Þ.e. Efnahvarf gengur til baka (“til vinstri”) og klórgas myndast 3) Sýrumyndun vegna klórgass (sama og 1): Klórgas + vatn hypoklórít + saltsýra, þ.e. Cl2 + H2O ClOH + H+ + Cl-
