A main verb tells what is happening in the sentence. Example : Natalie ran down the street. “ran” is the main verb
A helping verb comes before the main verb. Example: Tom has helped me before. “has” is the helping verb “has helped” is the verb phrase
The verb in a sentence can be made up of one or more words. This is called the verb phrase. A verb phrase includes the main verb and one or more helping verbs. Example: Mike has used a hammer before. “ has used” is the verb phrase
