Pardoner’s Tale • Keep in mind there will be a moral to the story • Also, be thinking of the 3 types of irony in order to complete the chart when are finished.
Pardoner’s Tale • Avarice: extreme greed. Also, the root of evil.(Pardoner is guilty of this!)
Pardoner’s Tale • Plague: the black death. Killed thousand of people in Europe during this time.
Pardoner’s Tale • Seven sins which needed pardoning included: pride, avarice (greed), lust, anger, gluttony, envy, sloth

Pardoner’s Tale • The three rioters swear to kill off death because he took their friend from them. • While looking for death, they find a pile of coins under a tree. (Greed to follow, don’t worry!)
Pardoner’s Tale • Two rioters decide to kill the other by stabbing him, but he tried to kill them by buying poison. All three end up dead. • Moral of the story: Greed is the root of all evil.
Irony • Now, complete the irony side of the worksheet by identifying three examples of the three types of irony along with an explanation. This is due at the end of class. • If you finish early, you can start on your vocabulary sentences.
