Tips, Tools & Strategies How to succeed in WYMLA
Communication • SPAN – Updated every two weeks, zero for missing work is temporary • Edmodo – Each teacher uses it in own way • Blackboard – Used by the CTE department • Interims – Snapshot to share progress at the midpoint with parents, not a report card
Test Retakes • In order to have a retake opportunity, students are required to complete certain steps as specified by the teacher • Steps differ by teacher and assignment
Lunch Detention • When assigned, student will bring home Think Sheet to be completed and signed • Student will serve on the day following the offense • Student will serve for 15 minutes, and then go to the cafeteria for lunch • Failure to attend assigned lunch detention will result in discipline referral
Tip # 1 Find a place to keep a pen or pencil
Tip # 2 • Use your agenda … • in the morning before you leave home. • when you get to school. • in each class (at the start of class). • before you leave school. • when you get home. BIG
Tip # 3 Do your homework on the day you get it.
Tip # 4 Break large tasks into smaller ones. How do you eat an elephant? Don’t cram for a test. Study a little every night. One bite at a time.
Tip # 5 ORGANIZATION … ORGANIZATION MATTERS! … is what successful people do. … takes time. … requires discipline.
