Why drink water? • Refreshing thirst quencher • Calories-free • Helps to keep our body healthy If we don’t drink enough water, we may suffer from constipation, have poor concentration or fall ill.
Why drink water? • One regular can of sugary drink contains about 7 teaspoons of sugar • Drinking too many sugary drinks can lead to weight gain or obesity • Water is the BEST choice!
When should I drink water? • Thirst is the most recognised sign of dehydration • By the time we feel thirsty, we may already be slightly dehydrated • So we should drink enough water even though we are not thirsty!
How much is enough? # One glass = 250ml * Total fluid intake is the total amount of fluid intake from food (such as soup and porridge) and beverages (such as water and milk) • The above figures act as a guide only. Increase your fluid intake if you are : • very active or the weather is warmer • ill or having diarrhoea
How to drink more water? • Drink water from water coolers in schools every recess • Drink water before, during and after exercise • Carry your favorite water bottle whenever you go out • Fill your water bottle with water only • Choose water over sugary drinks
