MrV’s Tables Students who can’t multiply or divide … … without a calculator! What can you do to improve their basic skills?
So, What’s The Problem??? • Simple multiplication tables • Are cumbersome to use. • Do not re-train student rote memory. • Do not help in the long division process. • Are never big enough! 12x12? 20x20? 50x100? • What can be done to address these problems? • Make the table small and easy to use. • Make every usage a flash card experience. • Provide training PowerPoints.
MrV’s Tables Card • Has been developed at MSJC over the last 3 years. • Can be used for all 4 basic arithmetic operations. • Contains other basic math information. • Can be used as a textbook bookmark. • The Addition Table can also be used for Subtraction. • The Multiplication Table can also be used for Division. • Is available in the Learning Resource Center. • PowerPoints are available from my Instructor Website. • Let’s take a look…
Would this card help your students? • If so, please e-mail me a request for copies • I’ll get them printed and delivered to your mail • Where my schedule allows,I’ll give a 10 minute presentation to your students. • I would appreciate your comments. • Dave Vandewater dvandewater @ msjc.edu
