The Jigsaw Puzzle By Katie Smith English- Summer School Friday, July.9th 2010
Title: The Jigsaw Puzzle Author: J.B Stamper
Protagonist. Vs. Antagonist Lisa is the protagonist in this story. And the puzzle she bought at the junk shop was the antagonist.
Main Character: • Lisa.
Setting: In the Junk Shop. • After buying a strange puzzle in the junk shop, Lisa went home to put it together.
Theme: • Finding a jigsaw puzzle on the very top shelf, and taking it home to a frightful night.
RisingAction: • Lisa was walking around the junk shop to find something to buy.
Rising Action: • Lisa found an old box at the top of the shelf kind of hidden. She was very interested and curious to see what it was. She went to look for the owner, not a sign of him; so she herself went to find something she could stand on and she found a stepping stool.
Rising Action: • Lisa paid for the puzzle and took it home with her.
Climax: • Lisa started the puzzle, and she thought to herself this is the most strange thing that she have ever bought. She continued putting the bottom pieces together and she realized that the pieces looked just like her wallpaper in her kitchen. Lisa had nothing else in her interest but to finish the puzzle.
Falling Action: • As Lisa continued putting the puzzle together she got a little antsy and she got up to make herself a sandwich, and as it was getting dark, she closed the blinds behind her. Lisa sat back down to finish the puzzle and she noticed a woman was in the middle of the puzzle. Lisa pushed herself to finish the puzzle in one night. She eventually made it. The image in the puzzle was herself, and behind her the blinds were open.
Resolution: • Lisa turned around and the curtains behind her were also open again. Lisa was startled; she screamed. The jigsaw puzzle copies the image of what’s going on with the person whom is putting it together.
Critique: • I personally did not like this story. It was very strange. I did think it was funny that she was so startled about the puzzle image.
