  2. Major Scales • Do, Ra, Me, Fa, So, La, Te, Do • Major Scales consist of 8 notes • The formula to get a major scale is; w,w,h,w,w,w,h. • Major scales seems to be bright • You always start and end on the same note • There are 12 major scales

  3. Natural Minor Scales • Minor scales sound sad and sorrowful. • Minor scale consist of 8 notes • The formula to get a minor scale; w,h,w,w,h,w,w • You always start and end on the same note

Modes • A mode is a collection of notes from a parent scale, and empasized starting at a particular note from the parent scale. • There are 7 different modes; Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian, and Ionian. • Dorian starts on the 2nd note of a major scale and goes up the its octave. • Phrygian starts on the 3rd note and goes up to the octave. • All other modes follow in sequence.
