  2. INFORMATION • A sheepdog is a dog used to herd or guard sheep. It has to be very active and intelligent. • They are trained to work alone and together. They also work well with horses • They can live anywhere between 10 and 20 years depending on the breed.

  3. Many Breeds • A wide variety of breeds are used as sheepdogs. • Collies, mastiffs (pictured), retrievers, corgis, koolies and great Pyrenees are also types of sheepdogs.

  4. Competitions • In addition to being working animals, some sheepdogs participate in competitions and trials.

  5. Active and High Energy • A lot of breeds of sheepdog are not suitable as pets. They require a lot of work. They are very demanding and high energy.
