Great Depression Questions By: Sadie Hedger
Introduction The topic I have chosen to create my questions for is the Great Depression. I have chosen this topic because I feel it is one that can easily be related to current events, and as as a result has interested me the most. I also understood this topic more, and in my opinion learnt more about the Great Depression then World War I.

Poll Question • Why did you choose this question? I have chosen to do my third question about who the president was when the Great Depression started because I personally had no idea Herbert Hoover was the president during this time let alone a president in general and it’s even more surprising because I’m American. Therefore I think this might be one that might shock or trick others if they are like myself. I also think that this is an important thing to know about the Depression, along with many other factors.
Analysis • This data shows us that there is a wide variety of answers although majority of the voters voted for the correct answer. Also, 1 out of 5 people that voted in the US answered incorrectly and the other four answered correctly. Some of the incorrect results were due to age difference. • It surprises me that most of the people who answered this poll were from QA and in our grade and yet some were still not completely sure of the answer. This surprised me because they are learning the same things as myself and therefore this is something they should know. It also surprised me that the one person who voted for George Washington was from North America and you would think that they would know their first president.
Analysis Continued… • What didn’t surprise was the fact the the majority of people who voted answered correctly, especially because most of the people are from the same grade and school as me. Something else that didn’t surprise me was that there were a few people that voted wrong because some of the voters are younger then myself and therefore may not have been taught about the Great Depression. • By looking at my data results I can conclude that a majority of the voters know about the Great Depression and who was president, but there are still some that are unsure. I can also tell that maybe this should be a topic that is taught more especially in some areas of the US. Over all I wasn’t very surprised by the end results because the majority of people got it correct as stated previously.
