LED Lighting Lighting the way to the future
Background Information • Light Emitting Diodes (LED) have been around for more than 40 years. • Efficiencies and brightness have continued to increase over the years of development. • LED lights use 80% less power than incandescent and 50% less power than fluorescent lights, with the same brightness. • LED lights last 10 times longer than fluorescent and 50-100 times longer than incandescent lights. • LED lights will last at least 12 years in a retail store environment. • LED lights don’t flicker & are very directional, unlike incandescent and fluorescent lights. • Lighting quality is comparable to a cool white compact fluorescent light. • LED lights produce little heat, do not generate RF interference as fluorescent lights do, operate in hot or cold environments.
Additional Benefits • Tax break permitted per Title 24 for 50% reduction in energy consumption • Greatly reduced insurance risk for employees climbing ladders to replace burned-out incandescent bulbs • Reduced heating within retail and office locations • Reduced usage of air conditioning • No risk of accidental burns when used in desk lamps and fixtures • Large long term and continuing ROI • Additional LED lighting styles being finalized – strip lighting, shelf lighting, track lighting, flashlights
