3. Back Howard Carter Howard Carter was born in London, the son of Samuel Carter, and an artist. Howard Carter made the discovery of king Tutstomb in November 1922 Carter had discovered not just an unknown ancient Egyptian tomb, but one that had lain nearly undisturbed for over 3,000 years. What lay within astounded the world.

4. Back Famous Pharaoh The reason that Tutankhamen is so well known today is that his tomb, containing fabulous treasures, was found early last century (1922) by British archaeologists Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon.

5. Back Inside his tomb… was statues, gold jewellery, Tutankhamen's mummy, chariots, model boats, canopic jars, chairs, and paintings.

6. Back When was Tutankhamen born? Tutankhamen was born at Akhenaten which was the capital city of Egypt. He was born in 1346 BC.

7. Back When did Tutankhamen rule? He became pharaoh at the age of nine in 1337 BC and reigned during the 18th Dynasty when the Egyptian Empire was at its height. He reigned from about 1337 to 1328 BC.

8. Back He died Tutankhamen reigned for around 9 years, making him about 18 when he died.
