  2. THIRD QUARTER FINDINGS This Value Engineering (VE) Quarterly Report summarizes savings and cost avoidance results achieved by reporting organizations that include the AMC major subordinate commands (MSCs), Life Cycle Management Commands (LCMCs), and DA Program Executive Offices (PEOs). The summary shown on the right is for the end of the Third Quarter of Fiscal Year 2010 (FY10). Current VE goals have been established based on 1.5 percent of the organization’s Total Obligation Authority based on guidance in the DoD VE Strategic Plan. Each organization’s progress is measured against those goals. The AMC and PEO community has achieved 30 percent of the AMC/PEO goal of $503.052M with savings and cost avoidances totaling $150.266M. Although this figure is significantly lower than at this time last year, expectations are that the overall FY10 VE savings goal is attainable, especially considering projects in the pipeline. Typically most of the progress toward achieving the VE goal is made in the second half of the fiscal year. Workshops/studies scheduled for FY10 are expected to generate significant reportable savings in FY10 and beyond. OTHER NEWS The FY09 DoD VE Awards Ceremony was held on 12 May 2010 in the Pentagon Auditorium with a reception immediately following in the Executive Dining Room. The DUSD(A&T), The Honorable Frank Kendall, and the DDR&E, The Honorable Zachary Lemnios co-presided. Award recipients and photos of the event are available for viewing on the DoD VE website identified below. AMCOM will be conducting 10 Primary Support Review sessions between now and 1 Dec 10 and will cover VE extensively during each one. The Summer 2010 AMC VE Functional Coordinating Group Meeting is scheduled for 25-26 Aug 10 at Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL. The Unique Identification Forum will be held 7-9 Sep 10 in Orlando, FL. The DMSMS Conference will be held 25-27 Oct 10 in Las Vegas, NV. The DoD VE website is continually updated with information on recent activities in the DoD VE community and to provide current VE guidelines. For more information, check out the website at: http://ve.ida.org/ve/ve.html • Inquiries on having workshops or concerning this report should be directed to the Edgewood Chemical Biological Center - Rock Island (RDCB-DES-S), Mr. Matt Schade, DSN 793-7787, email: matthew.schade@us.army.mil
