Basic Info • Robot Stella, which Ed (CEO Young Hoo Park) developed, is a medical robot that remotely senses patient's blood pressure or pulse and sends the data to the hospital at all times so that the patient can receive proper medical treatment at the right time. • It is expected that there will be demands from nursing homes or hospitals known to have elderly patients, who cannot treat themselves properly.
Special Features of Stella • Robot Stella is considered a friendly bot by most patients, meaning it cooperates with people nicely. • It sends information it receives and transmits it to the hospital. • It is an idea that is used in Korea already. People want to implement it into nursing homes, but they have not.
Special Features of Our Robot Our robot has been surveyed and has been trusted to be anthropomorphic and easy to use. It measures more than just blood pressure. Actually it measures pulse rate, blood flow, and oxygen levels of a patient. Also, our robot clearly demonstrates how to get your pulse rate, blood flow, and oxygen levels measured. Robot Stella seems to be more confusing. Lastly, just like Robot Stella our robot can send information to the nurses station, since it has a fingerprint scanner. Those are the special features of our robot.
Difference Between Ed-Robot Stella And Our Robot • Ed-Stella can only measure blood pressure. Our robot however can measure pulse rate, blood flow, and oxygen levels of a patient. When we further redesign the robot to go into senior homes we can use applied technology from Ed-Stella so our robot can not only measure pulse rate, blood flow and oxygen levels, but also measure blood pressure. • Ed-Stella doesn’t explain to the patient how to get their blood pressure measured. Our robot will have a LCD Board that tells the patient how to get their pulse rate, blood flow, and oxygen levels measured. • Using pre-acquired knowledge form Ed-Stella our group took it to another level, and came up with an innovative idea that could be better than Ed-Stella.
