Instruments used • Viols – violin: cello or double bass sound • Crumhorn – oboe sound • Lute – guitar sound • Theorbo – guitar sound • Recorder • Pipe and tabor – recorder type instrument and drum, played simultaneously by the same person • Pavannes and Galliards were also written to be played on the harpsichord.
