  2. WON’T YOU JOIN US IN OUR TOUR OF THE MEDIA CENTER? • This is our African-American Studies Area. • Here you will find literature, poetry, fiction, reference and biographies pertaining to African-Americans

  3. THIS IS OUR EASY READING SECTION • This is the area you will visit often if you teach Pre-Kindergarten-Third Grade. • Be sure to check out these materials for your classroom collection.

  4. EASY READING SECTION • There are two special areas within the Easy Reading Section. • Rookie Readers are located in the last bookcase in this section and are part of the Accelerated Reader Series • Easy Black Studies,located in the last bookcase are books written for younger African –American boys and girls. These books are written by African- American Authors.

  5. VISIT OUR FICTION OR CHAPTER BOOKS SECTION All fiction books are filed alphabetically according to the last name of the author.

  6. OUR NON-FICTION SECTION • We use the Dewey Decimal Classification System at Canby Lane . • 000-General Works • 100-199 Philosophy &psychology • 200-299 Religion • 300-399 Social science • 400-499 Language • 500-599 Natural Sciences &mathematics

  7. NON-FICTION SECTION • 600-699 Applied Science • 700-799 The Arts • 800-899 Literature • 900-999 Geography & History • B= Biography • Prof=Professional Materials • Ref= Reference • E=Easy Reading • F =Fiction

  8. BE SURE AND VISIT OUR PROFESSIONAL AREA • This area is located in our Audio-Visual Room. • Materials are specifically focused on teaching methods and ways to enhance your teaching techniques.
