FAO Vision on World Agricultural Statistics: Within FAO (1/2) • A Federated statistical system which is Unitary in spirit: decentralized statistical activities with a clear set of management, oversight, and governance mechanisms and data communicating protocols. • A Federated system of statistical databases = FAO data warehouse built on common statistical and IT standards with facility for two-way communication
FAO Vision on World Agricultural Statistics: Within FAO (2/2) • Statistics Division to become the leading unit in facilitating the coordination of FAO statistical system, setting standards and promoting best practices.
FAO Vision on World Agricultural Statistics: Partnership • An Integrated Global Strategy of Statistical Capacity Building: Targeted Methodological development; partnership with donors community; technical assistance to countries • Stronger mandate for FAO statistical work: Restructuring the FAO Statistical Advisory Committee with the participation of country representatives and development partners.
