Crustacea species exported from NPA area: • Nephrops (Iceland, Norway, Scotland, Ireland, Sweden, Faroes) • Brown crab (Norway, Scotland) • King Crab (Norway, Russia) / Snowcrab (Norway, Russia, Greenland) • Clawed Lobster (Norway, Scotland, Ireland) Increasing the value of crustacea (live product): • NZ spinylobsterfisheryexample; - 82% increase in exportof live lobster,catchesreducedby 33 %, valueoffishery more thandoubledin a 20 yearperiod • Northern Periphery Area example (King Crab in Norway) - In the last 5 years, change from 100% processed product, now 25% exported alive (increasing rapidly) Air transport Transport to land Live holding at market Live holding Capture Road transport ANIMAL WELFARE
