I hate tomatoes. In fact, there is not one thing about tomatoes that I enjoy. Tomatoes have a disgusting texture with their firm outside and explosively snotty inside. This texture makes them extremely difficult to cut and to eat. Additionally, tomatoes have a tangy, unappealing taste that lingers long after a bite has been swallowed. Whether diced or sliced, the terrible taste does not disappear. Tomatoes are by far the worst fruit.

Moreover, every single tomato you see in a grocery storehas been picked while it’s still green and less perishable, since that’s when it’s easiest to ship. The ripening process is then hastened using ethylene gas, which manages to turn the tomatoes red but can never recreate the effect of true sunlight, which gives tomatoes their intense flavor.So really, all you’re getting at the grocery store is the idea of a tomato instead of the actual thing.
