  5. Environmental Impact • Persistent Organic Pollutant • Half life 15 years • DDT and its metabolic products accumulate through the food chain • DDT is very highly toxic to aquatic life • DDT becomes more concentrated in animals higher on the food chain; such as Humans.

  6. Arguments for and against DDT • For • Since the ban, two million people a year have died unnecessarily from malaria, mostly children. The ban has caused more than fifty million needless deaths.
